1. The gang is walking to a newsstand late at night: a place (as an outdoor stall) where newspapers and periodicals are sold

2. Oh, c’mon, maybe you are just, uhhh… paying your dues: pay (one's) dues means to earn a given right or position through hard work, long-term experience, or suffering
